Who run the world?
Girls!
We are girls, and we have a mission: To Mentor, Inspire, and Defend.
We are an organization dedicated to advocating for the rights of girls and women in Uganda.
Our Aim
Girls On A Mission e.V. is a movement by and for girls and women in Mpigi Town, located about 1.5 hours from Uganda's capital, Kampala.
Awareness:
Through our school campaigns, we educate both girls and boys on a wide range of topics. Whether it’s about menstruation or sexual health, Girls On A Mission addresses these issues openly and without taboos.
Coaching:
At our Empowerment Center, we organize workshops and seminars on topics such as leadership and the art of creating African crafts, sharing skills to empower participants.
Skill-Based Training:
As a vocational training center, our Empowerment Center provides hands-on training programs. Each year, up to 100 women (and boys) complete professional courses in fields like design and fashion, beauty and hairdressing, baking and catering, and more. After six months of training, the women receive certificates that equip them to become financially independent and stand on their own feet.
We work together with
In addition to the work at the Women Empowerment Center, Girls On A Mission e.V. collaborates closely with other projects. This holistic approach makes the organization’s efforts particularly effective, enabling us to provide sustainable and efficient support.
In the following slides, you’ll learn more about our projects and partners: the Women Empowerment Center, Abato School (Kindergarten & Primary School), Pearl of Africa High School (Secondary School), and the Kingdom Medical Center.
The 'Empowerment Center'
At the Women Empowerment Center, women and girls can complete vocational training and acquire practical skills within six months to become self-reliant.
The "Abato School"
The Abato Foundation Uganda was founded in 2011 by Moses Kalanzi in Mpigi, near Kampala, to provide children with access to education. Since 2013, several school buildings have been constructed, and today the organization offers education to around 500 children regardless of religion, background, or gender. Moses Kalanzi emphasizes an inclusive approach that, in addition to the national curriculum, addresses topics such as democracy, sexual education, and diversity. Families with low incomes can pay school fees through in-kind contributions such as firewood or harvests. Under the motto "Inspire the Future," the Abato School actively contributes to addressing the country’s structural challenges.
The "Pearl of Africa Highschool"
Opened in January 2021, the Pearl of Africa High School offers secondary education to graduates of Abato School and other students in the community. The values instilled at Abato School are carried forward here, laying the foundation for a successful future. Currently, the school is home to nearly 250 young adults.
The "Kingdom Medical Center"
The Kingdom Medical Center was established in 2018 and expanded in 2019 with the addition of a maternity ward. The center also includes a pharmacy, a dental clinic, and a laboratory. The staff is equipped to treat common illnesses such as malaria and typhoid. With the maternity ward, they have also made the center a hub for prenatal care and postnatal follow-ups. Through regular mobile outreach missions, both within and beyond the community, they can reach patients who are unable to visit the center directly. The trained medical team is available around the clock, tirelessly providing care for patients of all ages in the surrounding area.
We continue to rely on donations to implement our projects. Your contributions help us cover:
- Salaries for teachers at the Empowerment Center
- Food and drinks for staff and students
