Become an Ally
Solidarity is one of the most important pillars of any society. It means empathizing with others and advocating for them - even without being personally affected. Demonstrating solidarity is something those with privilege can do by using their advantages responsibly. For example, they can draw attention to critical issues, even if they are not directly impacted themselves. At GOAM e.V., we aim to cultivate this form of solidarity.
Allyship = Partnership
The so called 'Global North' holds structural advantages over the so called 'Global South'. Postcolonial systems and a Eurocentric perspective exacerbate inequalities in collaborations between projects in the Global South and the Global North. Citizens of Uganda often have different starting points and access to resources compared to citizens of Germany.
At Girls On A Mission e.V., we strive to raise awareness that international cooperation works best when citizens from more privileged countries understand and value their privileges. By doing so, they can use their position to shine a light on injustices in other parts of the world.
Why Allyship instead of "Sponsorship"?
We aim to connect people, not create dependencies.
However, our projects unfortunately still rely on donations and will likely continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
The colonial history of the African continent and ongoing postcolonial structures bring with them a collective responsibility to redistribute resources.
Those who wish to support GOAM e.V. as a long-term ally can do so by contributing through recurring donations or becoming a member of our organization.
"Allyship enables a reciprocal relationship between North-South partners, breaking the cycle of dependency. A long-term mutual partnership bears many fruits, as allies can work with a clear conscience within well-defined boundaries."
Moses Kalanzi, Founder of the Abato Foundation

I want to support the work of the organization!
We can and should be critical of postcolonial structures and existing dependencies.
However, our organization relies on donations. We are 100% funded by contributions and, unfortunately, receive no government support for the work we do in Uganda.

Help us keep our projects alive
The Center is a safe space for women and girls of all ages - a place to feel welcome, learn, inspire each other, and sometimes simply leave your worries behind. To keep the Center running, we rely on donations.
If you appreciate our work and would like to support us, we would be deeply grateful for your help.
To shape society sustainably and make change tangible, it is equally important to continue raising awareness about injustices. Breaking down stigmas around women changes how society perceives and treats the female gender. No girl should feel ashamed because of her period or face unintended, premature pregnancies due to a lack of education - whether in Uganda or anywhere else in the world.
Taking an active look at your own privileges and educating yourself beyond Eurocentric structures helps overcome existing inequalities.
Every change begins with you!
